Mount Kofinas (1213 m) is the highest peak of the Astrerousia mountains stretching on the south coast between Lendas and Tsoutsouros. The peak can be accessed only on foot. You can get to the point of departure in the foothills on an unpaved road passing between Kapetaniana and Paranymfi, or you can also drive there from Sternes. There is a small chapel where you can park your car. The first 500 m are quite a nice path, then the climb starts to be really steep and demanding. The peak is quite large and flat, consisting of big stone slabs. In the highest point, you will find a stone chapel (only its roof is made of concrete). There is a splendid and very interesting view - in the south, you can see the Koudoma Monastery and the village of Tris Ekklisies as well as the whole coast between Kali Limenes and Tsoutsouros. In the west, you can see the Psiloritis mountains while in the north, there is a beautiful view on the Messara plateau. According to the locals, the peak has got its name because it resembles the top part of a demijohn (or an amphora, since we are in Greece).
