Gournes
Gournes is located on the north coast of Crete about 15 km from the capital of Heraklion right between the resorts of Kokkini Hani and Kato Gouves. This traditional village is hiding a traditional old housing development and a maze of romantic streets inhabited by its old residents. Another part of the village is formed by a main street with a beach promenade where most of the accommodation facilities, tavernas, markets, cafés and souvenir shops can be found. The whole village is surrounded by hills covered with olive trees and little fields with grapevine. One of the village´s assets is definitely its short distance from the capital offering more possibilities of shopping, walks, museums, and much more. There is a regular bus connection between Heraklion and also the popular Malia, and Gournes every half an hour.

There is a public service bus to Gournes departing from the capital of Heraklion every half an hour. Another option is to rent a car or a scooter and set off to get to know the beauties of the island on your own.
