Little island of Sókastro
The island lies just opposite the Frangolimionas Beach. On the island, building foundations and water reservoirs from th Byzantine era have been preserved. Later the island became a settlement of the crusaders, called Franks by the Greeks, and so the bay opposite Sókastro got the name of Frangolimionas. There once used to stand the fortress of Kástro which gave the name to the whole island.
