Skiathos
Skiathos Resort
Skiathos is a typical Greek port town. Its centre is formed by narrow stone-paved streets with traditional little white houses. The picturesque secluded places full of blooming pelargoniums are followed by small sauqres. Unfortunately the original architecture has been disturbed a bit by growing tourism, and so, next to traditional little tavernas, you will find luxury restaurants offering global cuisine and even a Mc Donald´s.
Although Skiathos is becoming a cosmopolitan town adapted to the demand for tourism, you can still find there reminiscences of its illustrious past like e.g. the museum of Alexandros Papadiamantis - the famous writer and the local native. Another place you shouldn´t miss is the Bourtzi peninsula with its open-air theatre.
