Roda
Roda Resort
On the goldish north coast of the ´Emerald Island´ of Corfu, you will find a small and calm tourist resort of Roda, next to the busy resorts of Sidari and Acharavi. In this former fishing village and the today´s growing resort oriented especially on family holidays, the visitors have literally everything the might need, as Roda offers a unique combination of the Greek tradition, including the hospitality of the locals and nice environment, and all the modern background in the fields of hotels and restaurant services, sports and entertainment. The surrounding nature also has a lot to offer - in the place you can enjoy views on the turquoise sea, and the evening sunsets above the horizon are particularly impressive.
Roda beaches
Bathing in the Roda resort is safe both for children and those who are not such experienced swimmers, as the sea there is quite shallow and mostly calm and crystal clear. A few of the local hotels and bars offer free access to their swimming pools where you can relax but you are supposed to buy at least a small refreshment. The beach in Roda is plain and sandy, with an addmixture of small pebbles, and it is maintained on a daily basis. Like on other similar resorts, here you can also rent an umbrella and a deckchair for the whole day, and indulge in carefree sunbathing and water pleasures. For those longing for some adrenaline, there are many options of sports activities, including water skiing, paragliding, ringo, riding a banana boat, and much more.
Tourist background
Compared to other resorts, there are not so many shops in Roda, yet they offer everything you need. You will find there both traditional souvenir shops, jewellery and handicrafts, but also basic foodstuffs. There is also medical care available in the place.
The resort has enough tavernas, restaurants and bars so that everyone could choose according to their taste. All those facilities are scattered all over the resort from the beach up to the old part of the village, offering various local and international delicacies, including vegetarian dishes and meals for children. At night, Roda becomes lively in its own way - night disturbance is prohibited, but there are still places where the entertainment is more lively (but still bearable compared to other resorts). There is something for everyone: karaoke, live music, discos, but also romantic sit-downs with candles or watching movies on a large screen. Most of the local clubs are open till the morning hours.
What to do in Roda?
For the fans of motosport, there are go-karts and a small race track, but you can also rent a car, a motorbike or a bicycle and set off for a trip to the surroundings. Roda is also suitable for hiking trips with its tracks that will take you to the hills and olive groves, showing you something from the local fauna and flora. If you don´t enjoy walking either, you can go for a horse ride.
In the resort there are two historical sites: the first one of the St. Georgios Church with masses being held regularly, the second one are the ruins of a Doric temple from the 5th century BC dedicated to Apollo. In the vicinity, you can visit the nearby resorts of Sidari (about 6 km far) and Acharavi (about 3 km far away). Those who enjoy walking can go there on foot, the others can rent a car, or go by taxi or a bus. You can also make a trip to the island capital of Kerkyra which is really worth seeing mainly for its historical sites, romantic secluded places and the possibilities of entertainment. Close to the nearby resort of Acharavi, there is a new water park with plenty of water attractions especially for children. Another option is to go for a boat trip on the calm sea to visit other islands in the proximity.

Jak se tam dostanu
The fastest way to get to Roda is by plane, arriving at the island capital of Kerkyra. From there, you will continue by road. If you prefer comfortable and private transport, you can take a taxi to the resort, but there are also (much cheaper) public buses. Or you can rent a car in a local car rental service. There are ferries arriving both from Greece and Italy, so you can better travel by your own car and then continue on the road up to Roda. Corfu doesn´t have a too complex road infrastructure, there are only a few main roads, so you can get to most of the resorts following the signposts.
There is also a taxi rank close to the beach, or you can use regular buses departing to the capital and the nearby resorts.
