The Bali resort emerged from a small and cosy fishing village that has preserved its charm and peace despite all the tourists till nowadays. Bali is located in a small bay in a hilly landscape, and so, besides its peaceful environment, it also offers a beautiful view and is well protected from the wind (except the wind blowing from the north-east direction)
What to do in Bali?
Both in the village surroundings and the terraced resort built on slopes descending to the sea, you will find everything you can expect from a tourist resort and an old village - Bali offers plenty of small shops, a bakery, a beach, a monastery, a small port, and historic sites including a four-storey fountain.
The Bali resort stands alone near a bay of the same name, and thanks to its location, it can offer all kinds of tourist attractions, but you can also find there secret and peaceful places where you will be alone and no one will disturb you. For those who enjoy being with people, Bali has four fully equipped beaches including water sports and tavernas, on the other hand, those who enjoy being alone can visit some of the secret rock bays with no signs of civilization.
Bali and its surroundings
For those who want to do more than just idle at the sea coast, Bali and its surroundings offer many possibilities to go for a trip or short walks. Near the resort, you will find original mountain villages, including the charming places of Axos or Anogia, for example. You will also find the Agios Ioannis Prodromos Monastery nearby, and those of you who are physically fit can make a trip from Bali to Panormos or Fodele with the birthplace and museum of the famous painter, El Greco. On your stay in Bali you should definitely not miss the traditional ceramics manufacture in Margarites or the Melidoni which is located in the village of the same name about 5 km south-west of Bali. Another tip for an interesting trip is to visit the ancient Rethymno by boat.
